WWE Money in the Bank 2023 will be remembered for a number of reasons, but few moments were more shocking—or dangerous—than the terrifying table crash involving Logan Paul and Ricochet. The botched Spanish Fly that sent both men crashing through a table became one of the night’s most viral moments, and now Ricochet is opening up about what really went down in that high-stakes moment.
Speaking on Unlikely With Adrian Hernandez, Ricochet detailed how a sudden instinctive call led to the improvisation:
“Especially in wrestling, you have to rely on your instincts a lot because sometimes things don’t go right,” Ricochet said. “Especially with what we do, and when you add tables, ladders, and all these types of things, in those moments, it’s fight or flight.”
He continued, explaining that during the spot, he was fully aware of the dangers involved:
“I’m out there obviously trying to put on a show for the crowd, and at the same time, I’m holding on to Logan Paul. I’m going ‘We’re going, bro. You slip, I slip. It don’t matter. We’re going.’”
Ricochet revealed that after the crash, tensions were high:
“Then after that, he met me afterwards, and we got in a little fight. They got it on camera, but in that moment, it’s fight or flight. I’m the one going backwards anyway… you have to take control of the situation.”
According to Ricochet, the entire moment hinged on a miscalculation. LA Knight had pushed the ladder they were on, sending both men tumbling toward the ropes. Their plan was to hit the top rope simultaneously to launch into the Spanish Fly. But when Ricochet’s foot landed first and Paul’s missed, it threw the timing off.
Paul tried to recover by catching the second rope, but before he could stabilize, Ricochet committed to the move and took both of them through the table in what became one of the most chaotic moments of the event.
This improvised yet gut-wrenching spot not only had fans talking for weeks but also highlighted the sheer unpredictability and danger that comes with the high-flying world of WWE. It was also a precursor to Damian Priest‘s eventual breakout, as Money in the Bank 2023 proved pivotal for multiple stars.
