On the March 24, 2025, edition of WWE Raw, John Cena made a bold declaration, outlining his intention to become the final WWE Champion. He vowed to win his 17th World Championship at WrestleMania 41, surpassing the record he currently shares with Ric Flair, and then retire with the title. Cena stated,
“At WrestleMania, I make history by winning a 17th Championship. And I finally force you to forget the name of the fun machine, jet-flying WOOO Ric Flair. You will forever say the name John Cena.”
In response, Ric Flair addressed Cena’s remarks during an interview with TMZ. The 16-time World Champion took Cena’s comments in stride but expressed skepticism about being erased from wrestling history:ITR Wrestling
“They’ve been trying to get rid of the ‘woo’ for 50 years. The ‘woo’ ain’t going away, and neither is Ric Flair.” ITR Wrestling
Flair also reflected on his gratitude for still being part of the wrestling conversation, especially after overcoming significant health challenges in recent years. Despite Cena’s strong words and unexpected heel turn, Flair acknowledged the impact of Cena’s new direction, calling it “the coolest thing they could have done.”
As WrestleMania 41 approaches, Cena is set to challenge Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship. Whether Cena will achieve his goal of making history or not, fans can anticipate an epic showdown in Las Vegas this April—an event that Ric Flair and the entire wrestling world will be watching closely
