Lilian Garcia, the legendary WWE ring announcer, has opened up about her latest return and evolving role within the company following her departure from full-time announcing duties. Garcia reappeared on the October 21, 2024 edition of Raw, stepping in for Samantha Irvin after her exit and quickly reclaimed a familiar spotlight.
By early 2025, it was revealed that Garcia had officially re-signed with WWE, taking over as the full-time ring announcer for SmackDown from January 3 until March 14. Her final appearance in that role came during WWE’s European tour, with her concluding duties on the March 14 episode in Spain.
In a recent interview on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Garcia shared heartfelt insights into her transition away from SmackDown and into a new chapter with WWE. She emphasized that the decision was mutual and handled with care:
“I think that they actually were like, ‘How can we make this really meaningful?’ – So when they told me, ‘We do wanna go ahead and have Spain be your final one and you’re good to go ahead and announce that on social media’… I don’t want people to think that it’s me that didn’t wanna do it for some reason or that I got tired of being on the road or anything.”
Garcia made it clear that WWE still values her presence and plans to utilize her talents moving forward. In a nod to her enduring legacy, WWE has confirmed she will now serve as the official ring announcer for their quarterly Saturday Night’s Main Event specials.
“They have a vision, and that’s fine. But I also love that they were like, ‘But we’re not done with you yet… let’s use you here,’ so I’m excited.”
This marks a new era for Lilian Garcia, balancing her iconic voice with fresh opportunities while remaining an enduring part of WWE’s evolving presentation.
